Books.by

If you are looking for a way to use print-on-demand services for your customers without paying big royalties, then Books.by may be your answer. Instead of charging for every book, like Amazon or Ingram Spark,  Books.by funds its costs by charging an annual fee of $99, after which you keep 100% of your sales, minus print costs. You are given your own shopfront platform to customise as you wish, with its own URL to direct customers to from your website or social media pages.

As your royalty return is a lot more than you receive elsewhere, it opens up the potential for you to play around with the price you charge, and you could offer your books at a lower cost to your loyal followers, and still walk away with more profit.

There is no restriction to selling on other platforms at the same time, either, and if you use them each in a strategic way, each one has its own advantage.

For example, having your book on Ingram Spark allows you to be found by global high street book stores and libraries if someone goes in and asks for your work.

Registering with Amazon ensures you can be found in searches by millions of online readers worldwide. You become part of the mighty algorithm and have the option to be part of the popular Kindle Unlimited subscription.

Using Books.by in addition to both of these, provides an opportunity to be more personal: you can hand out QR codes at book signing events; put ‘exclusive’ links on your social media or website pages and give your loyal visitors special treatment. Maybe you would like to sell your book with a heavy discount, so long as they continue to pay for shipping? Or maybe you would like to keep your price the same but absorb the shipping costs yourself within your bigger royalties?

Another benefit of Books.By is being paid daily. Every time you make a sale, the payment goes directly into your bank account, and you will not need to wait 60 or 90 days, like on the aforementioned platforms. You will also receive information about who the customer was who bought your book - where they are in the world, who they are, and you will be provided with their email address to add to your mailing list.

You can upload any books you have written that are already in circulation, or you can use the Book.by typesetting and ISBN services for something new. Ebooks can be sold on Books.by, too (provided you are not restricted by the terms of KDP Select on Amazon).

Like every other print-on-demand platform, Books.by does not actively go out and advertise for you, so all of your marketing must still come from you. But it does offer you an alternative way to present yourself, an alternative method of payment and some extra options when interacting with your readers.
