In 1801, Jane Austen left the Hampshire village of Steventon and moved with her parents and sister to Bath. Within a few years, her world was turned upside down when her father's death left the Austen women with little money and no permanent home. They found themselves dependent on a network of relatives and friends as they moved from place to place, yet these uncertain years also brought Jane into contact with people and places that would later find their way into her fiction.
The Austens of Bath explores this little-known chapter of Jane Austen's life, spanning the years 1801 to 1809, a period from which few of her letters survive. This is the second novel in The Austens Trilogy and can be enjoyed either as a sequel to The Austens of Steventon or as a standalone story.
